This tops my list of strange things that have happen to my work. A brick broke in the ceiling of the salt kiln and bounced off the shelf landing on this bottle. This most-likely happened after the final salt before the glaze cooled. The bottle is airtight Artist's personal collection |
This piece was hit by another piece in a game of kiln dominoes and fell against the wall of the kiln severing the head of the bottle. The glaze was tacky-hot and glued the head to the neck. As a side note. I had been working with ash glazes in the salt kiln and could not get a bottle to turn out. The first (and best) bottle was dropped by a child shortly after opening the kiln, and six attempts were needed to get a good bottle. Artist's personal collection. |
