A historical perspective of my work through the years
starting with my first class in 1989 at Alpena Community
College with Instructors Joe Donna and Laurie Wade.

As a note: I did make a couple pieces of pottery in high
school, but I doubt I could find any images of those
pieces.

We all started somewhere...
1989 images to be added... once found
sculpted head -this piece was
modeled whole, trimmed into
segments and cored. This may be the
only piggy bank I have ever made.
Bare clay fired to cone six oxidation.
last spotted at a friend's house.
tiled space scene - I have
always loved science fiction.
Measuring in at four foot by six
foot this piece is my largest
work to date. The texture on
the surface comes from my
hands and feet. cone six
oxidation painted with spray
paint.
this piece was sold to a friend,
but the condition is unknown.
vase - this piece was an experiment
using thick slips dried on the surface of
clay then stacked and flattened into a
slab creating the surface decoration.
Clear glaze on clay fired to cone six
oxidation.
whereabouts unknown.
vase - painted slips on a simple hand
built form, glazed and fired to cone six

open pot - Ceramic sticks wired to
wooden base. Fired to cone six

relative. Conditions unknown.
sculpted head with bowtie and tophat.
glazed and fired to cone six oxidation
with the tophat and bowtie
spraypainted.
this piece was a gift to a friend which
was possibly broken during a move
incised plate - One of my first uses of
porcelain, this plate was covered with a
blue and black slip checkerboard pattern
with the line pattern carved into the
surface of the clay. This piece was my first
accepted show entry, and an early
example of patterns found throughout my
future work.
This piece fell and broke while in use
during a party in 1995. A noble way to die.
oil lamp - a series of wicked oil lamps
were made during this time. Most with
metal legs made from various materials
(brad nails for this piece). I may be
mistaken, but I believe this piece was
salt-fired with a cobalt chloride wash.
